JOHN A. HIEBERT

John A., son of Abraham and Helena Pankratz Hiebert, was born in Europe on November 15, 1870, and came to the U. S. in 1875 with his parents, who settled south of Hillsboro, Kansas on a farm, Here John grew to manhood.

On February 27, 1901, he was married to Anna Durksen. In 1912 they went to California and settled at Upland. They united with the First Mennonite church, where he was a faithful member to the end. In 1922 they bought their home in Ontario, Calif., a few miles south of Upland.

In 1940, John A. was run down by a car and had to spend five months in a hospital. He never fully recovered his health. On March 17, 1949, he passed into the beyond at his home. Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.

Besides his wife, Anna, he leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters and four sons, Grace, Mrs. J. C. Boshart of Cucamonga, Calif., Luella. Mrs. Sam A. Piety of Whittier, Calif., Wallace of Lancaster, Calif., Rufus of Ontario, Calif., Lawrence of Boron, Calif. Twelve grandchildren also survive.
