KILLED WHEN JET PLANE CRASHES ON TEST FLIGHT IN ONTARIO

Steinbach, Man. — The crash of a jet fighter plane near Pickering, Ontario Aug. 23 claimed the life of John Hiebert, 32, a native of Arnuad [sic Arnaud], Manitoba, it has been learned here. He was serving as an observer for a Canadian firm during a test flight when the plane burst into flames. The pilot guided the plane away from two villages and then escaped by parachute, but Hiebert's body was found in the plane after it crashed.

He is survived by his wife; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Hiebert of Arnaud, two sisters and five brothers.
