HOWARD KEVIN HIEBERT
Howard Kevin Hiebert, son of Donald and Rosalie (Koehn) Hiebert of Yale, S. D., was born June 16, 1962 at Huron, S. D. He departed from this life on March 6, 1965 after a two-week illness of pneumonia and complications, reaching the age of two years, eight months, and 18 days.
Howard was not blest with complete health as he was born with a congenital heart condition. He enjoyed a quite normal life for some time. The doctors gave hope that his condition could be corrected through surgery. On July 2, 1964, he underwent heart surgery at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He suffered brain damage during surgery which left him completely paralyzed. He was discharged from the hospital on Aug. 5, 1964, and then tenderly cared for at home until he entered the St. John' s Hospital in Huron, S. D. with pneumonia.
Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Starla Gay and Debra Kim of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Hiebert, Hillsboro, Kan. and Mrs. Frank Koehn, Canton, Kan.; great-grand[parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Koehn, Galva, Kan., and Mrs. Andrew Koehn, Canton, Kan.; also, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
The funeral service was held March 9, 1965 in the Faith Mennonite Church, Iroquois, S. D. with Rev. Earvey Ensz of Almena, Wis. and Rev. Sylvester Unruh, pastor of the Faith Church, officiating, Interment was made in the nearby cemetery.
