HENRY P. HIEBERT

Henry Peter Hiebert was born on October 3, 1896 in Neuhof, Brodsky, south Russia, the sixth child of Peter and Elizabeth (nee Neufeld) Hiebert. After high school in Halbstadt, in 1915 he was called in to the army and served as a chauffeur and interpreter. In June, 1918 he was baptized on confession of faith and joined the Mennonite Church of Neukirch, in Orloff. He served in the defensive White Army and experienced the protection of God during the revolution years . He married Susanna Dick in June, 1921.

In 1924 the Hieberts moved to Canada with their two children, and five more were born to them. They settled in the Kitchener Waterloo area and farmed for a short while. Mr. Hiebert then worked for over 30 years as a machinist for Uniroyal Rubber. They joined the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, where he served as a trustee for 12 years. His wife predeceased him after 45 years of marriage. A life of good health was appreciated; when his heart began to fail in 1975 his daughter Elizabeth faithfully cared for him. On July 7, after a short time of suffering, he went to be with his Saviour and Lord.

He is mourned by his children, Agnes (Mrs. Howard) Kramp, Kitchener; Elizabeth, Kitchener; Henry and Jean, Delhi, Ont.; Adeline (Mrs. Edward) Funk, Kitchener; Wanda (Mrs. Abram) Goerz, Clearbrook, B.C.; Victor and Alyce of Waterloo; and Annette (Mrs. Victor) Thiessen, Linden, Alta.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
