HELENA HIEBERT
Helena Peters Hiebert, daughter of John A. and Gertrude Rempel Peters, was born on Aug. 28, 1909, at Quincy, Wash., and passed away Dec. 15, 1946, at her home near Newport, Wash., after an illness of two weeks.
Upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, she was baptized on Aug. 26, 1928, by Rev. J. J. Kliewer and accepted as a member of the Newport Mennonite church, where she remained a faithful member to the end.
She was always active in church work, as a Sunday School teacher, and wherever there was opportunity to serve for the Lord.
She was united in marriage to William Hiebert on Sept. 5, 1929, by Rev. J. J. Kliewer. They lived in holy wedlock for 17 years, three months and 10 days. To this union three children were born — two boys and one girl. A son, William, Jr., preceded her in death in infancy. She reached the age of 37 years, three months and 19 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her bereaved husband, one daughter, Lucille, 15; one son, Donald, 11; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Peters of Newport; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Maria Hiebert, Dallas, Ore.; two brothers, Dick Peters of Spokane and John Peters of Custer; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Oastling [sic Ostling] of Kittitas, Mrs. Gertrude Loewen of Custer, Mrs. Kathryn Hiebert of Newport, Marie and Eva Peters of Spokane.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 19, conducted by Rev. P. D. Unruh of Colfax.
