GEORGE HIEBERT

George Hiebert was born in Franzfeld, Russia on Augnst 6, 1912. On November 4, 1939 he was married to Katharina Zinn. This was during World War II, and they experienced many hardships, especially in their flight as refugees from Russia to Germany. In 1949 they had the opportunity to emigrate to Canada and they settled in the Main Centre, Sask., area.

On September 9, 1951 he followed the Lord in baptism and was received into the fellowship of the Main Centre Mennonite Brethren Church. On the morning of February 24, he suffered a severe stroke and after being hospitalized for two days he passed into the presence of the Lord. Funeral services were conducted in the Main Centre Mennonite Brethren Church on March 1, with Pastor Alvin Penner and Rev. Johann Siemens of Herbert officiating.

He leaves to mourn his sudden passing, his beloved wife Tina; five sons, Ferdenand, Frank, Peter, Helmut, and Harold; two daughters, Frieda, (Mrs. Bob Divel) and Rosalyn; three grandchildren; one brother and one sister in Russia: one sister in Germany and another sister in Salmon Arm, B.C..
