Ephrata, Pa. &#8212; Funeral services for Rev. John S. Hess, 84, whose ministry spanned almost half a century, were held Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Hess Mennonite Church, Lititz. He died at the home near Lititz on Oct. 3 after a long illness.

A lifelong resident of the Lititz community, Rev. Hess was ordained a minister in the Hammer Creek District in 1919. he was active in the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions for many years, and had conducted over 200 evangelistic meetings.

Rev. Hess first marriage was to Katherine F. Brubaker. Surviving are his second wife, the former Ruth Clugston, four daughters and three sons and their families, and also three step-daughters and two step-sons and families. A son, Rev. Richard B. Hess, is a minister of the Hess congregation.

Long-Time Minister Dies in Pennsylvania

Ephrata, Pa. — Funeral services for Rev. John S. Hess, 84, whose ministry spanned almost half a century, were held Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Hess Mennonite Church, Lititz. He died at the home near Lititz on Oct. 3 after a long illness.

A lifelong resident of the Lititz community, Rev. Hess was ordained a minister in the Hammer Creek District in 1919. he was active in the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions for many years, and had conducted over 200 evangelistic meetings.

Rev. Hess first marriage was to Katherine F. Brubaker. Surviving are his second wife, the former Ruth Clugston, four daughters and three sons and their families, and also three step-daughters and two step-sons and families. A son, Rev. Richard B. Hess, is a minister of the Hess congregation.
