Youth Strangled In Fall From Tree
Lancaster, Pa.— An unusual accident at the farm of Menno and Amy (Martin) Hess claimed the life of their 12-year-old son, John Martin Hess.
The youth accidentally strangled to death when he fell from a cherry tree into a noose he had fashioned at the end of a length of rope. When he failed to come to the house for supper, members of the family began a search which ended at the cherry tree about 250 yards from the house.
Funeral services were held at the Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.
