Infant Dies as Flames Destroy Farmhouse
Mechanicsville, Md. — The six-month-old daughter of the Reuben Hertzler family of Path Valley, Pa. died when fire destroyed the farm home on Jan. 16.
The parents and two other children, ages three and two, were in the barn when the house caught fire from an unknown cause. the parents used a rake to pull the crib from the house, but the child had died from suffocation. the house and contents were a total loss.
