Funeral of Amish Bishop Largely Attended

Burton, Ohio. — The funeral of Bishop Neil I. Hershberger, 76, of the Old Order Amish church here on Nov. 9 was largely attended by local members and friends and relatives from other states. Services were conducted in four houses.

Bishop Hershberger died Nov. 9 in the local hospital after a three-month illness. He lived at the same farm home where he was born.

Surviving are his second wife, the former Lydia C. Kauffman, four sons and 11 daughters and their families. A son, Jonas N. Hershberger, had been ordained to the office of bishop about a month before his father's death.
