AUTHOR OF “HIGHWAYS TO CHEER" CALLED AT AGE SIXTY

Nappanee, Ind. — Funeral services were held at the North Main street church here recently for Leander L. Hershberger, 60, widely known poet of this county who wrote under the pen name of "Lee Ander." His poems, collected over a 40 year period, were published last year in a book called “Highways to Cheer."

Mr. Hershberger was a member of the Eugene Field society, the National Association of Authors and Journalists, and Sigma Iota Xi, a national literary fraternity.

He leaves his wife, the former Wilma Smeltzer, three daughters and two sons.
