MRS. AMALIA HEPPNER

(Mrs.) Amalia Heppner was born to Gottlieb and Margareta Wekkesser on April 23, 1896 in Samara, Russia. Her parents died when she was a young child, and she was adopted by the Jakob Niebuhr family . On August 27, 1917 she married Peter Hamm. In 1924 the Hamms moved to Canada, residing in Manitoba for three years and moving to Ontario in 1927. In September, 1932 she was baptized and received into the Leamington Mennonite Brethren Church.

Six sons were born to the couple. In 1967 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Hamm passed away in 1969. In 1970 she was remarried to Cornelius Heppner of California, and continued to reside in Leamington. After five years of marriage, Mr. Heppner passed away.

In May, 1975, Mrs. Heppner underwent surgery for cancer. Although her health rallied briefly, she passed away on June 4 to be with the Lord. She leaves to mourn six sons, five daughters-in-law, 25 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
