MRS. SARAH HEINRICHS

Our loving mother, Sarah Braun Heinrichs, daughter of Abraham A. and Elizabeth Buller Braun, was born at Henderson, Neb. on July 23, 1886.

At the age of 12 she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. The church at that time felt she was too young to be baptized. Later she moved with her parents to Texas and then to Enid, Okla., where she was baptized and united with the Mennonite Brethren Church.

After spending some time in Oklahoma, the family moved to Joes, Colo. Here our mother was united in holy matrimony with our father, Peter Heinrichs, on July 28, 1910. This union, which lasted 19 years, was blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters. Two sons and two daughters passed away in infancy. After the family had spent some time on a farm at Jos, doctors recommended a change of climate in behalf of our mother's health. As a result of this our parents moved to Reedley, Calif. in 1920. Here she made her home to the very last.

We knew our mother as one devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ, always ready to testify to those who entered her home, and one who was greatly concerned about the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren. She loved the church and was a faithful supporter of the servants of the Lord.

Our mother enjoyed comparatively good health with the exception that she went through some great trials for a few years when she had cancer of the skin. The Lord graciously met her needs during those trying times, and also continued to rejoice in His great blessings.

Several week [sic] ago she became ill. A week before her death we took her to the Reedley hospital. Here she was given the best of care but Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 1962, she left to be with the Lord. Her departure was a definite answer to her great longing and prayer that she wanted to go home to be with her precious Savior. She reached the age of 75 years, five months, and 14 days. She lived in widowhood for 32 years.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are her three children, Reuben Heinrichs of Redley, Willie Heinrichs of Fresno, and Lena, Mrs. Theo Albrecht of Reedley; also one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maria Warkentin, of the Reedley Home for the Aged, Mrs. Katie Warkentin of Enid, Okla., and Mrs. Susie Warkentin of Dinuba, two brothers, Peter Braun and Jacob Braun, both of Reedley, six brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law.

The memorial service was held in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church with the pastor, Rev. Dan Friesen, officiating. — The Family.
