JACOB J. HEINRICHS

Jacob J. Heinrichs, son of Jacob and Eva Buller Heinrichs, was born Jan. 5, 1881, at Henderson, Neb. His boyhood days were spent on his parents' farm near Henderson. He became acquainted with the hardships of the early pioneer days, but also learned how the first settlers were sustained by the grace of the Lord.

On May 27, 1901, he was united in marriage to Lena Hiebert. Four sons and two daughters came to bless this union.

In June 1901 he was convicted of his sins and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Upon his confession of faith, he was baptized July 14, 1901, by Rev. John Kliewer and received as member of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Henderson.

In 1916 the government opened land in Montana and many Mennonites moved to this new territory. On March 13, 1916 he and his family joined a group who left Nebraska to make their home in Montana. They settled in the Volt community north of Wolf Point.

In 1917 the Volt Mennonite Brethren Church elected him to serve as their deacon. In 1927 the Mennonite Brethren churches of the community united in an ordination festival. The brethren Aaron Dick and Jacob J. Toews were ordained as ministers of the gospel. Peter Koslowsky and father were ordained deacons.

On March 17, 1935, after 33 years of marriage, Mrs. Heinrichs passed away.

In 1947 father retired to Dallas, Ore. Here on Mar. 21, 1948 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Aggie Flaming. Father continued his ministry as a deacon and for many years as member on the church council.

Father enjoyed the blessings of good health. In March,1964, however, he became seriously ill. He recovered sufficiently to be active again for several months. On Aug. 24 he suffered s stroke and was admitted to the Dallas hospital on Aug. 26. On Sept. 17 he departed this life to be with the Lord whom he loved and served. He attained the age of 83 years.

He has left to mourn his departure: His sorrowing widow, Mrs. Aggie Heinrichs; three sons, Peter and Jacob, both of Wolf Point, Mont., and Abram, Meade, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Hanson, Wolf Point, Mont., and Mrs. Eva Peabody, Helena, Mont.; 41 grandchildren, including step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, including step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abram, Salem, Ore., and John, Dallas, Ore.; four step-sons, Clifford Flaming, Paxton, Nebr., Dr. Elmer A. Flaming, Dallas, Ore., Edward Flaming, Paxton, Nebr., and David Flaming, Jr., Seattle, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Lena Heinrichs; one son, Jacob, in infancy; one great-grandchild, Lawrence Woodcock; his parents, Jacob and Eva Heinrichs; one brother, Peter; two sisters, Mary and Eva; and one step-grandchild, Dale Flaming. — The Family.
