HERMAN HEINRICHS

It has pleased Almighty God to take Herman Heinrichs to himself on December 15. In the heavenly home he now realizes what he formerly hoped for through faith in Christ. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Heinrichs of Alexanderkrone, Siberia, Russia. On September 19, 1929 he married Maria Woelke, who at that time lived in Tuman, Siberia and who was active in an evangelical Russian church program.

Soon after their marriage they fled to Germany, where they lived for 17 years. In the Wiedenest Bible School he studied theology and then in the following years served as travelling Christian missionary in Belgium, Holland, Czechoslovakia and other countries, besides Germany.

In 1947 they came to Yarrow, B.C. and the following year settled in North Surrey. Up to a few years ago he worked as orderly in Vancouver and Burnaby hospitals. In his last years he was frequently ill and spent much time in hospitals.

To the end of his life he adhered to his faith in Christ. One of his last statements was: "If I am not to go home to my house, then it is home to the heavenly abode." When deacon Ad Dirks last visited him, Psalm 6 and 7 were read and received his grateful response.

His marriage was blessed with three children, two of whom predeceased their father in infancy. He leaves to mourn, his daughter Lydia, with her husband Heinz Lange (high school teacher at Merritt) and their two children. Two sisters still live in Russia.

Although his wife deeply mourns his passing she takes courage in the words of Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
