Stabbing Victim Dies At Lone Pine, Calif.
Steinbach, Man. — Funeral services were to be held Nov. 20 at the Bergthaler Church at Lowe Farm for David Heinrichs, 27, who died in the Lone Pine, Calif. hospital of infection from a stab wound inflicted more than two weeks earlier by a hitch-hiker whom he had picked up.
Mr. Heinrichs, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Heinrichs of Steinbach, was returning to his mining job in British Columbia when he picked up the hitch-hiker in northern Wyoming. The man attacked him after he had pulled to the side of the road during the night to rest.
The young man's father suffered a heart attack while leading the singing at the Steinbach Bergthaler Church on Sunday morning, Nov. 15, a short time before receiving word of his son's death.
Another son of this family, Henry Heinrichs, was killed in an auto accident in Saskatchewan on June 28 of this year.
