ABRAHAM A. HEINRICHS

Abraham A. Heinrichs, son of Abraham and Helena Heinrichs, was born on July 3, 1881, near Henderson, Neb. As a teen-age boy, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized April 5, 1896, and united with the Mennonite Brethren church for fellowship.

On Oct. 9, 1902, he was united in holy matrimony to our mother, Anna Braun, at Kirk, Colo. Our mother preceded father in death in 1951. This union, which lasted almost 49 years, was blessed with seven children, five sons and two daughters. One son, David, and one daughter, Helena, passed away in infancy.

Our parents made their first home at Kirk, Colo., and later moved to Reedley, Calif. where they lived on a farm till about 1940. After this they made their home in the city of Reedley.

In September 1956 the Lord gave to our father another companion, and to us as children a mother, in Mrs. Susie Schmidt. With this marriage he assumed the responsibility of fatherhood of two more sons and two daughters: John A. Schmidt of Reedley, Herbert Schmidt of Cordell, Okla.; Mrs. Tillie Ediger of Reedley, and Mrs. Eva Sawatzky of Clinton, Okla.

Father was a kind and loving supporter of the family. He had his daily time of prayer and was interested in pointing his children and grandchildren to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The last years of his life he was happy and in comparatively good health. On Saturday morning, June 25, 1960, he was busy digging up trees. About 11:00 a.m. he complained of some pains about his heart. This condition became worse and at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Lord gently called him home to heaven. He reached the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 22 days.

Those who remain to mourn his departure are his wife, Mrs. Susie Heinrichs of Reedley; four sons, Abe of Bakersfield, Jake of Reedley, Dan of Delano, Calif., and Henry of Hollister, Calif.; one daughter, Lydia, Mrs. Kliewer of Azusa, Calif.; four brothers, John and Chris of Kirk, Colo., David of British Columbia, Canada, and Jake of Reedley; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Braun of Reedley; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

We rejoice that God gave us a wonderful father and are grateful that He has taken him home to glory.

The memorial service was held June 30, at 10::00 a.m. at the Mennonite Brethren church, Reedley, with Rev. Dan Friesen and Rev. Henry L. Janzen officiating. — The Family.
