MRS. HELENA HEIDEBRECHT
Our dear mother, Helena Heidebrecht, nee Boese, was born on Sept. 14, 1870, in the Village Grossweide in South Russia. Her parents were Heinrich and Maria Rempel Boese. She came with her parents to North America in 1876 and settled in McPherson County. Since her mother was often ill, she was drawn into full household duties as a young girl. She received some Bible instruction in her youth and later became a member of the Bethel Mennonite church.
On Dec. 12, 1893, she was united in marriage with our father, John B. Heidebrecht. The Lord blessed their union with one daughter and eight sons. Life was not without its hardships. Tornadoes and fires were among the trials which the family faced during their farming experience. They lived for many years on a farm east of Inman.
Upon confession of a saving faith in the Lord Jesus, mother was received into the Ebenezer Mennonite Brethren Church at Buhler on June 20, 1915. Since 1942, she had been a faithful member of the Hillsboro M. B. Church.
The parents retired in 1941 and made their home in Hillsboro. Father passed away on Nov. 1, 1949. Since 1950, mother had been residing in the Goessel Home for the Aged. She was very grateful for this home and truly enjoyed her stay there.
She always had a keen interest and vital concern for the material and spiritual welfare of her children. Her deep love and her sincere faith will always remain a blessing on our lives.
She became ill about 10 days before her death and was moved to the Goessel hospital for medical care. However, she had recovered sufficiently to be in the Home again before she passed away. The Lord called her home suddenly after a heart attack on Tuesday morning, Oct. 2. She reached the age of 86 years and 18 days.
Her husband, John B. Heidebrecht, her daughter, Marie, one son, Ted, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Linda Heidebrecht, and a twin brother, David Boese, preceded her in death.
Among those mourning her departure are seven sons and their families: Albert and Martha Heidebrecht of Marion; Arthur Heidebrecht of Wichita; Curt and Cleo Heidebrecht of Lincolnville; Walter and Vera Heidebrecht of Wichita; Alvin and Sarah Heidebrecht of Hutchinson; Menno and Ruth Heidebrecht of Overland Park, Kansas; Rudie and Elsie Heidebrecht of Wichita.
She also leaves one daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Schultz of Inman, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Wedel of Goessel, Mrs. John Epp of Turpin, Okla.; three brothers: Henry Boese, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Peter Boese, Hutchinson, Jacob Boese, Liberal; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Oct.4. Rev. Curt Boese was in charge of a service at the Bethesda Home for Aged, which was followed by services at the Hillsboro M. B. Church with Rev. Waldo Hiebert officiating. Rev. Boese conducted the committal service at the Buhler Cemetery. — The Family.
