ALVIN B. HEIDEBRECHT

Alvin B. Heidebrecht was born to Rev. C. C. and Suzanna [sic Susanna] Heidebrecht, on June 7, 1900, in Lehigh, Kan. His early childhood was spent in the Buhler community. He received his elementary training in the Willis grade school, where his own father was his instructor.

In his youth he lost both his father and mother by death. He, however, found a home with the Rudy Klassen family at Newton. It was shortly after this that he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and he was baptized in the Mennonite church of Newton, Kan.

On April 26, 1936, he was united in marriage with Susie Dyck, at Buhler, Kan. There they spent over 24 years of happy married life and shared joy and sorrow.

He was of a sincere and kind nature, always willing and ready to help others. He enjoyed his work as a rural mail carrier and was a good provider. He was much interested in reading and loved to listen to the many gospel messages that come over radio. His favorite Scripture was Psalm 23 and John 3:16. This Scripture was also the rock upon which he was anchored at the time of his going.

Throughout life he enjoyed excellent health, but in recent years he developed hardening of the arteries, which ailment gradually weakened his condition. Complications led to complete hospitalization in Grace hospital, Hutchinson, since April 22, 1960. His spirit departed for his eternal home on August 26.

He is survived by his widow, five brothers, Edward of Wakeeney, Arnold of Burrton, Abe J. of Hutchinson, John O. of Sedgwick and Harry of Arabia; four sisters Mrs. Fred Steinle of Dorrance, Mrs. Ella Warkentin of Larned, Mrs. Ralph Wesley and Mrs. E. S. Funderburk, both of Hutchinson. Loved ones who preceded him in death are his mother and father and two brothers, who died in infancy. — The Family.
