16 Year Old Son of Goshen Family dies After Brief Illness

Goshen, Ind. — Kim Nathan Hartzler, youngest of three sons of Rev. and Mrs. Robert W. Hartzler of Goshen, died early Saturday, Jan. 25, at a South Bend hospital after having suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on Friday afternoon at his home.

The young man, president of the sophomore class at Goshen high school, had not been ill and had attended shortened semester-end classes earlier in the day. He was a member of the Eighth street Mennonite Church and active in its youth group.

Kim was born in Elkhart on Sept. 11, 1952, shortly after his mother was stricken with polio. Since that time she has been confined to an iron lung and rocking bed at the Hartzler home. Rev. Hartzler is administrator of Oaklawn Psychiatric Center, Elkhart.

Funeral services were conducted Monday forenoon at the Eighth Street Church by Rev. Herbert Fretz and Rev. A. E. Kreider.
