MARY ELIZABETH HARTZLER
Mary Elizabeth (Yoder) Hartzler, daughter of Abraham and Fannie (Kurtz) Yoder, was born June 5, 1871, in Cass county Missouri, died June 13, 1951, at Jackson, Minnesota at the age of 80 years, eight days.
She was united in marriage to Noah K. Hartzler on January 7, 1894; he passed away August 4, 1934.
To this union were born seven sons and three daughters, two of whom preceded her in death, an infant son Ursula October 24, 1894, and Fannie (Mrs. Charles Garber) on December 28, 1928.
Surviving are Emery and Marion of Goshen, Indiana; Nettie (Mrs. Loyd [sic Lloyd] Garber) and Mattie (Mrs. James Bute) of Jackson, Minnesota; Vernon of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Archie of Lakefield, Minnesota; Ernest of Somers, Iowa; Erlis of Wellman, Iowa; also a step-son Amandus of east-Lynne, Missouri, two sisters and one brother, Levi and Sarah of Canby, Oregon, Ella (Mrs. Obed Miller) of Hammett, Idaho; one sister-in-law Mrs. (Eli) Mary Jr. Hartzler of Eldorado, Kansas, 31 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
She was a member of the Sycamore Grove Mennonite church, Garden City, Missouri where she lived until after the death of her husband.
For the past 13 years she made her home with her daughter (Mattie) Mrs. James Bute of Jackson Minnesota. Until the last six months of her life she was active and always busy and very much interested in the welfare of her children.
Services were held at Alpha Mennonite church on June 15 in charge of C. J. Garber, after which the body was taken to Garden City, Missouri where services were held on June 16 at the Sycamore Grove church in charge of Raymond Hershberger and John A. Kauffman.
Her body was laid to rest in the Clearfork cemetery.
