Retired Minister And Farmer Dies At Ulysses, Kansas

Ulysses, Kan. — Funeral services for Rev. Isaac Harms, 84, retired farmer and Mennonite Brethren minister, were held at the Ulysses M. B. Church on Friday afternoon, Jan. 3. Officiating ministers were Rev. Donald F. MacNeill, the pastor, Rev. Arthur Flaming, Rev. John Flaming and Rev. Dale Warkentin.

Rev. Harms died at the hospital here on Dec. 31, 1968. A native of Lehigh, Kan., he was married to Emma C. Neufeld at Boyd, Okla. in 1912. He came here in 1927 and served as pastor of the congregation from that year until 1928. He also served on the Spring Valley Board of Education for a number of years.

Last fall the Ulysses congregation held a five-day observance marking the 40th year of its harvest-thanks festivals. Rev. Harms was pastor when the first festival was held on Thanksgiving Day 1929.

Survivors include his widow, four sons and five daughters and their families, three sisters and two brothers.
