Reedely [sic Reedley], Calif., Dec. 11 — Cornelius Harms, aged 93 years, passed away Sunday at midnight at his home about three miles south of Reedley, in the Windsor district, after an illness of several days. Deceased was antive of Russia and had resided in California for the past twenty-two years. he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Harms, and nine children, P. T., John C., Cornelius C., Isaac C., Mrs. Anna Enns, wife of N. P. Enns, Mrs. Lizzzie E. Thiesen, wife of Phil E. Thiessen [sic Thiesen], and Tena Harms, all of Reedley, Mrs. Barbara Heinrich, wife of Peter Heinrich, of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Margaret Peters of Alberta, Canada. All of his children, excepting Mrs. Peters of Canada, will be here to attend the last rites, which will be held Thursday at 2 o'clock at the South Mennonite Brethren Church. Rev. John H. Richert, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Kleinsasser cemetery.
Mr. Harms came to this country from Russia in19906, and settled on a farm in the Windsor colony. He engaged in farming, but of late years had retired. He had always been in good health up to his last illness. He was the last of a large family of children. In May of the present year he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding. So far as known, Mr. Harms had 98 living descendents. — Reedley Exponent.
