GEORGE J. HARDER
George J. Harder, son of Johann and Marie Harder, was born on Oct. 28, 1884, at Inman, Kan. and departed this life on Dec. 18, 1966, reaching the age of 82 years, one month and 21 days. He spent his boyhood days at Inman, Kan. and was baptized on the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus on July 23, 1905, and received as a member into the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 29, 1907, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Janzen and to this union were born 12 children, of whom one daughter, Marie, preceded him in death in 1937.
They made their home near Inman until 1912 when they moved to Nowata, Okla. where he was employed as a teamster. In 1919 he moved his family to Meade, Kan. where he was engaged in farming till 1932.
Due to the depression he felt it necessary to move to Weatherford, Okla. where he was engaged in carpentry and farm labor until August 1944. He then moved back in Meade, Kansas on the Beutler farm where he was employed until his retirement in 1960. Since then he had resided at the present address.
Father was a godly and orderly man, kind and gentle, with a real spiritual concern for his family, spending much time in Bible reading.
He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, Elizabeth; 11 children, Martha, Mrs. John N. Ediger, Meade, Gus and Carl, both of Reedley, Calif., Earnest, Hereford, Texas, Ella, Mrs. Ewald Schmidt, and Helen, Mrs. Ronald Wallace, both of Clinton, Okla., Selma, Mrs. Pete Doerksen, Reedley, Paul of Shafter, Calif., Ray of Wasco, Calif., Milford of Inman, Delores, Mrs. Larry Riggs of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Reimer, Commerce City, Colo., and Mrs. Katherine Penner, Lushton, Nebr.; 28 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The immediate family was all resent at the funeral. — The George J. Harder Family.
