LULLA HAGEN

Lulla Hagen was born June 13, 1924 in Coy, Okla., to Cornelius and Lena Zielke. Her family moved to Newton, Kan. where with her four brothers and one sister she spent her younger years. It was in Newton at the First Mennonite Church as a young girl where Lulla made her profession of faith and was baptized.

In January of 1942 Lulla moved with her family from Newton to Reedley, Calif. Here she met Clarence Hagen, whom she had known as a boy in Newton. He had moved to Reedley a number of years before. they were united in holy matrimony on Jan. 28, 1945 at the First Mennonite Church of Reedley by Rev. P. K. Regier.

To this union came happiness and joy, along with difficulties. Because of her warm heart and radiant spirit, children became not only the fulfillment of this union but the crown and glory of this Christian mother. There were six in all, Sharon, Myrna, Glenn, Virgil, Deborah, and Richard. Before she left this life two grandchildren also came to know her love.

But not only did her own children draw upon this loving spirit for everywhere she went this servant of her Lord worked among the children of the church, radiating love until God Himself smiled upon her to call her into His presence on March 28, 1967.

She was receptive to the higher gifts that God gives in his spirit — love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. These are the "fruits of the Spirit." And for this reason, there is no doubt as to the whereabouts of this loved one's soul.

Funeral services were held March 31 at the Mennonite Community Church, Fresno, Calif., with Rev. Ronald Ropp officiating.
