B. G. GUHR
Birkholtz G. Guhr of Newton Kan., son of Jacob and Eva Kopper Guhr, was born Aug 30, 1891 near Durham, Kan. and passed to his eternal reward Sept. 15, 1966 at the age of 75 years and 16 days.
He was a retired farmer. He was visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. D. Flaming, at Peabody when he became ill. He had been in ill health for some time.
He was baptized upon the confession of his faith at the age of 15 in the Johannestal Church near Hillsboro by Pastor John Plenert.
He was married on Oct. 15, 1913 in the Tabor Church, Goessel, Kan., to Eva Goertz.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife Eva; seven sons, Jonathan of Boulder, Colo., Samuel, Daniel, Arnold and Adolf of Newton, Otto and Milton of Potwin, and two daughters, Rose (Mrs. S. D. Flaming) of Peabody, and Edna (Mrs. Silas Stucky) of Newton, and their families; one brother Erich of Dighton, and one sister Ada Voth of Little River; 32 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One daughter Lydia and one great-grandchild, Todd Flaming, preceded him in death.
Dad and mother had the joy of celebrating their golden wedding three years ago, in which all the children and grandchildren had a part.
B. G., as he was known to all his acquaintances, was deeply concerned about the spiritual life, not only of his own family, but of all with whom he came in contact.
Funeral services were conducted at the Emmaus Mennonite Church, where he was a member, on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. Rev. L. R. Amstutz officiated. Burial was in the Johannestal cemetery near Hillsboro.
