Pretty Prairie Farmer Died

Pretty Prairie, Kan. — Andrew P. Graber, well-known farmer here, died at a Hutchinson hispital [sic] on June 19. Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie on Friday, June 22.

A native of Freeman, S. D., where is was born Aug. 26, 1876, Mr. Graber had lived in this community for 57 years.

He leaves his wife, Lena, four sons, one daughter, and nine grandchildren.

ANDREW P. GRABER

Andrew P. Graber, son of the late Peter O. and Suzanna (Goering) Graber, was born August 26, 1876, at Freeman, South Dakota, and peacefully ended this life's journey on Tuesday, June 19, at 6:00 p.m., having reached the age of 79 years, nine months and 21 days.

On Feb. 10, 1891, he with his parents moved to Pretty Prairie, Kansas and located on a farm six and a half miles east of Pretty Prairie. One year later he was baptized on confession of faith and was received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie by the late J. J. Flickinger.

On March 12, 1899, he was united in marriage to Helena Waltner at Freeman, South Dakota by the later Rev. Chris Kaufman. They shared life's joys and sorrows for 57 years. To this union were born eight children, three of whom preceded him in death, Felix at the age of 12, and Peter and Daniel in infancy.

He is survived by his widow and the following children: Martin, of Pretty Prairie, Ben of Hutchinson, Marie at home, Andrew, of Montibello [sic Montebello], Calif., and Tod of Castleton. There are also nine grandchildren and the following brothers: Chris of Moundridge, Jonathan, Ben and Henry of Pretty Prairie; and one sister, Marie, wife of Dan L. Stucky of McPherson.

He was an ardent Bible student and enjoyed attending Sunday school and church.
