ABRAHAM B. GOOSSEN

Abraham B. Goossen was born Oct. 23, 1905, to Franz M. and Susanna (Duerksen) Goossen in Marion County, Kan., and joined the presence of his Lord on Jan. 25, 1986, after a brief stay at the Hadley Regional Medical Center in Hays, Kan.

He received his formal education at a country grade school and Hillsboro Academy. An an early age he received Christ as his Saviour. Later he was baptized and joined the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, Kan.

On Oct. 4, 1931, he was married to Susie Flaming, and to this union three children were born. In 1981 he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were charter members of the Meadow Mennonite Church near Mingo, Kan., which later became the Mingo Bible Church. He remained a faithful and active member until his death.

He enjoyed the out-of-doors and was active in farming for 55 years until his retirement, after which he still liked to help with the work. His presence was felt by his family and others as he shared with them his love and by providing for them. He was challenged and encouraged by Scripture memorization.

He is survived by his wife, Susie; his children and their spouses, Lois Irene and Levi Siebert of Limon, Colo., Lorena and Albert Wahl of Thompson, Man., and Ralph and Gloria Goossen of Colby, Kan.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
