HEINRICH D. GOSHEN
Heinrich D. Goossen, beloved husband and father , son of Franz and Susana [sic Susanna] Goossen of Hillsboro, Marion County, Kansas, was born Nov. 1, 1911. He departed this life Jan. 1, 1958, at the age of 46 years and two months.
On April 14, 1935, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Reimer to which union were born three daughters and two sons.
He was baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour by Elder P. H. Unruh and received into the membership of the Alexanderwohl church. On Sept. 19, 1937, he became a charter member of the Meadow Mennonite church at Colby, Kan., to which he remained true and faithful.
He enjoyed fairly good health until Sept. 13, 1954, when he was hospitalized. Diagnoses showed leukemia. Thereafter he was constantly under a doctor's care. On Saturday, Dec. 28 he again was hospitalized and seeing the end was near he expressed sincere blessings to his wife and children and to their future son-in-law.
He was an active church worker, serving as council official, member of the Gideon International Scripture Replacements, etc.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Luella May and Margaret Katherin [sic Kathrine] who are attending Bethel College in Newton, Kansas, and Bernice Grace who is attending Meade Bible Academy; two sons, Ezra Rufus and Emry Rein [sic Emery Reinhold] of the home; a future son-in-law, Dwight Unruh of Newton; eight brothers, Franz D. of Oakley, John D. of Marion, Abraham B. of Colby, Alvin L. of Colby, Ferdinand S. of Hillsboro, Edward D. of Colby, Cornelius D. of Oakley and Walter D. of Hulbert, Okla.; nine-sisters-in-law; two adopted sisters, Mrs. Walter Schmidt of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Sam Ratzlaff of Warden, Wash.; nephews, nieces and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William.
We will miss him greatly, but we will meet him again in eternity. Since he greatly believed in the power of prayer he often expressed appreciation for all the prayers on his behalf.
He looked forward to the return of our Lord and Savior but was eager to part from this life and to be forever with the Lord.
Rev. J. W. Bergen officiated at the funeral, assisted by Harry Martens from Newton. the funeral was held in the Meadow Mennonite church and the body was laid to rest in the Colby, Kansas cemetery.
