MRS. MARY GOERTZEN

(Mrs.) Mary Goertzen was born on January 5,1888 to Jacob and Mary Dyck of Winkler, Manitoba. Through the work of the Holy Spirit she realized she was a sinner, accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour, and was baptized by Elder David Dyck in 1901. She was received into the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. With her family she moved to Herbert, Saskatchewan in 1906. One year later she married John Goertzen. The couple was blessed with three sons and three daughters, all of whom accepted Jesus as their Saviour. They also received 26 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. After farming for 34 years in Main Centre, Saskatchewan, the Goertzens moved to B.C. They lived in Websters Corners, Matsqui, and Abbotsford until 1968, at which time they moved to the Tabor Home in Clearbrook. Because of failing health and the need for more intensive care, the Goertzens were transferred to the Menno Home in Abbots - ford in 1975. Here, on January 22, Mrs. Goertzen fell asleep to wake up in the presence of her Lord. She leaves to mourn, but not without hope, her beloved husband, with whom she shared 69 years, her children, and their families.
