Auto Tragedy at Mt. Lake
TWO OF FIVE STUDENTS KILLED AND OTHERS SERIOUSLY INJURED
Information has reached the Review about the tragic accident at Mt. Lake, Minn. Friday night, Jan. 14, in which two high school students were killed and three others seriously injured.
The two fatalities were Douglas Goertzen, who apparently died instantly, and Gwendolyn Wenberg, who died shortly after being brought to the Mt. Lake hospital. Critically hurt were Marlys Harder, Verna Harder and a Friesen youth.
All were en route to a basketball game at Jackson, Minn. when their car failed to make the turn at a jog in the road six miles south of Mt. Lake, crashing into a snowbank. Three ambulances rushed the dead and injured to the hospital.
When news of the tragedy reached Jackson, the game there was called off.
