ANNA SCHIERLING GOERTZEN

Anna Schierling Goertzen was born on Sept. 11, 1884 in Reno County near Buhler, Kansas. She went to be with her Lord on March 12, 1972, at the Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City, Kan. at the age of 87 years and six months.

She was married to Jacob H. Goertzen on Jan. 5, 1904 in Hutchinson, Kan. They moved to Beaver County, Oklahoma in a covered wagon where they homesteaded on a farm.

In 1907 she and our father saw their lost and sinful life, repented and became children of God. In the same year, they were baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Hooker, Okla. After father passed away in July 1958, mother moved to Dodge City and became a member of the First Missionary Church. Here she resided until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Frank, and two daughters, Helen Mae and Eva Louise. She is survived by eight children, 26 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. The daughters are Mrs. Abe Goertzen, Dodge City, Kan.; Mrs. John B. Dahl, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. D. D. Schmidt, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Mrs. Buford Smith, Covina, Calif. The sons are Don E. Goertzen, Hutchinson, Kan.; Wm. Goertzen, Johnson, Kan., and Henry Goertzen, Eugene, Ore. She leaves one brother, Wm. Schierling of Inman, Kan.

We will long remember her deep and abiding faith and her fervent prayers for the spiritual welfare of all her children and grandchildren.
