• Funeral services for B. A. Goertz, prominent Hillsboro businessman, were held Saturday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church there. He died Feb. 19 after an illness of several months. Mr. Goertz operated an auto agency in Hillsboro for nearly 40 years, was president of Concrete Products, Inc., and active in civic affairs. He is survived by his widow; three sons, Dr. Leo of Kansas City, Chester and Glenn of Hillsboro; and three sisters.

BRUNO A. GOERTZ

Bruno A. Goertz, son of Jacob and Anna Lehrmann Goertz, was born in Hillsboro, Kan. on Sept. 17, 1891.

He was baptized by H. D. Penner on May 21, 1911 at which time he also became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.

On June 5, 11921 he was married to Helena Bartel of Hillsboro.

Three sons, Leo, Chester, and Glenn, were born to this union. A daughter Helen died on the day of her birth. His wife also preceded him in death on March 5, 1954.

On June 5, 1943 the family circle was again completed when he and Helen Claassen of Beatrice, Neb. were married by Rev. H. T. Unruh.

Bruno was in the automobile business from 1926 to 1960 and started a concrete business in 1948. He was active in the work of the church, served on the city council and school board and on the board of directors of Salem Hospital, the Home for the Aged, and Parkside Homes. He enjoyed playing golf and spent many happy hours on the golf course in hi s retirement years. He died on Feb. 19, 1969.

He leaves loving memories to his wife Helen; his sons, Leo and wife Margaret, Chester and wife Darlene, and Glenn and wife Janice, and the eight grandchildren; his sisters, Mrs. Otto (Wallie) Pankratz, Mrs. Wm. (Anna) Calam, Mrs. Harrison (Martha) Ratzlaff, and other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church on Feb. 22 with Rev. Roland Goering, the pastor, officiating.
