text of obituary:
ABRAHAM H. GOERTZ, son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Goertz, was born August 15, 1885, at Goessel, Kansas. He received his education in a country school near Goessel. In 1903 he and his parents moved to Oklahoma where they settled on a farm where the parents now live. On July 16, 1905, he was baptized upon confession of his faith by Elder H. R. Voth, and joined the Ebenezer Menn. Church where he was an active member until his death. On September 16, 1909, he was united in marriage to Susie Brandt, to which union four children, three boys and one girl, were born.
He always took an active part in the affairs of the church and the community. He served as choir director in his church for many years, and also held the position of trustee. He was a dutiful son to his aged parents, seeing them every day. He was especially of great help to his blind father. Three years ago his oldest son, Albert, was killed in a car accident in Illinois, but he found refuge and strength in his Lord and Master.
He died suddenly, Tuesday morning, June 19, 1941, at his home. He reached an age of 55 years, 10 months, and 4 days. He leaves to mourn his death his widow and children: Edna of Oklahoma City, Ewald of Rockford, Ill., and Ernest of the home; his parents; five sisters, Mrs. A. H. Reimer and Mrs. Frank Goossen of Newton, Kansas. Mrs. John Brandt of Claypool, Arizona, Mrs. A. H. Thiessen of Mountain View, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Gerhard Harms of Whitewater, Kansas.
Funeral services were conducted from the church, Sunday afternoon, June 22, Rev. H. H. Hege of Corn, Okla., Rev. Gerhard Friesen of Newton, Kans., and Rev. Abe Froaze of Cordell, Okla., officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
