— Funeral services for J. M. Goering, widely known Moundridge farmer, were held Friday morning, July 9, at the Eden church near Moundridge. Mr. Goering, who was 69 years of age, was driving on the streets of Hutchinson Tuesday, July 6, when he suffered a sudden heart attack and the car, going out of control, collided with a parked truck. Mr. Goering was taken to the Grace hospital in Hutchinson, but life had already fled away. He became widely known in recent years because of his work on family genealogies, six of which he completed and published. The funeral services at the church and graveside were in charge of Rev. Abe Wiebe of Newton. Surviving Mr. Goering are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Milo Stucky, Buhler, Mrs. Waldo Preheim, Moundridge, Mrs. Herman Goering, McPherson, and Mrs. Bill Gray, Las Vegas, Nevada, and a son, Joe W. Goering, Moundridge. Mr. Goering was a brother of Rev. S. J. Goering of North Newton.

J. M. GOERING
Jacob M. Goering, son of Joseph and Maria (Strausz) Goering, was born June 19, 1885, on a farm near Moundridge. Here he spent his childhood and early manhood. He received his elementary education at Mound school. On Sept. 21, 1902, through baptism he was admitted as a member to Hopefield Mennonite church. Later, in 1933, he transferred his membership to the Eden church, of which he remained a member until his death.
He was united in marriage to Miss Anna J. Graber, daughter of Joseph and Freni (Schwartz) Graber of Marion, South Dakota, on Feb. 24, 1910. They located on the farm northwest of Moundridge, where they lived together 44 years. To this union were born six children: Two sons and four daughters. A son, Orlin, preceded him in death in 1951.
The deceased had a deep interest in people and community affairs. He was deeply interested in the history of our Swiss Mennonite people. During recent years he compiled and published a number of family records.
His death was due to heart failure and occurred Tuesday noon, July 6, in Hutchinson while driving his car which then collided with a parked truck.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, four daughters: Mabel, Mrs. Milo Stucky, Buhler; Florence, Mrs. Waldo Preheim, Moundridge: Adella, Mrs. Herman Goering, McPherson; Mae Lola, Billy Gray, Las Vegas, Nevada; one son, Joe W, of Moundridge; 19 grandchildren; four brothers, one sister, his mother-in-law, and many other relatives and friends.
