Christian B. Goering, 96, of the Moundridge Memorial Home, died Feb. 29. Services for the retired farmer took place March 3 at the Eden Mennonite Church with D. C. Wedel in charge. He was married in 1907 to Adina Goering, who died in 1983. He had been a resident of the home for four years, moving there from North Newton. He leaves three sons, Erwin C. and Eldon C. of North Newton and Jacob D. of Silver Spring, Md.; daughters, Elizabeth Wedel and Melita Goering of Moundridge, Amanda Goering and Ann Waltner of Newton, Luella Stahly of Akron, Pa., and Evelyn Lehman of Glendale, Mo.; two brothers, Henry J. and Jacob J., both of Moundridge; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

CHRISTIAN B. GOERING
Christian B., son of Jacob J. and Anna Schrag Goering, was born July 26, 1887, on a farm in McPherson County, Kan. He died at Memorial Home in Moundridge on Feb. 29, 1984, at the age of 96.
He became a member of the Hoffnungsfeld-Eden Mennonite Church. He was married on Oct. 24, 1907, to Adina Goering, with whom he shared life's joys and sorrows for nearly 76 years.
They lived on a farm in McPherson County until 1937, when they moved to a farm in Harvey County. Retiring from farming they moved to the Bethel College campus in North Newton and transferred their membership to the Bethel College Mennonite Church. In 1980 they moved to the Memorial Home in Moundridge and rejoined the Eden church.
He loved the soil and knew what it meant to work hard. He was of a jovial nature and took great interest in meeting people and making friends. He was especially concerned about the spiritual well-being of his family.
He is survived by six daughters, Elizabeth and husband Arthur A. Wedel of Moundridge, Amanda and husband Arthur J. Goering of Newton, Ann and husband Milford D. Waltner of Newton, Melita of Moundridge, Luella and husband Delmar Stahly of Akron, Pa., and Evelyn and husband Ralph S. Lehman of St. Louis; three sons, Erwin C. and wife Verna of North Newton, Jacob D. and wife Beth of Silver Spring, Md., and Eldon C. and wife Bonnie of North Newton; two brothers, Henry J and Jacob J. of Memorial Home, Moundridge; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Mildred; two brothers, two sisters, one half-sister, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services took place March 3 at the Eden Mennonite Church with D. C. Wedel in charge.
