text of obituary:

BETTY MARLENE GOERING

Betty Marlene Goering, eldest daughter of Edwin J. and Hilda (Schwartz) Goering, was born on Feb. 2, 1929 at Elyria. Kan. She attended grade school there until 1942 when she moved with her parents, brother and sister to Pretty Prairie, Kan. She was called to her eternal home on Feb. 20, 1970 at the age of 41 years.

On June 10, 1945 she was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church by Rev. P. P. Tschetter. She was a devoted and faithful member of the church. She was especially interested in mission work since many of her friends were in the mission field. It was a blessing for her to be able to contribute to the needs of the church. Regular participation in the women’s mission society was one expression of her desire to serve others.

She had a great love for children and worked in various homes where there was a newborn child. She cherished the thrills, excitement, love and Joy brought to her by her nieces and nephew. Wherever she was there always seemed to be cheerfulness and a warm feeling that made the paths of those in her company seem less dreary and difficult. She found joy in bringing happiness to others. She enjoyed sharing birthday and anniversary greetings and letters.

Those left to mourn are her parents, of Pretty Prairie; one brother, Curtis, Pretty Prairie; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Virleen) Unruh of Regina, Sask., Canada, and Mrs. Marlow (Janice) Unruh, Hesston; four nieces, one nephew, and a host of friends and relatives.
