Grandmother Anna Goering, 92, who died at the home of her son and family, Jonath. J. Goering northwest of Moundridge last Sunday morning. Grandmother Goering was the oldest surviving member of the large group of Swiss Mennonites who immigrated from Russia to the Hopefield community in 1874. Having homesteaded on the open prairie, she lived long enough to see he locality develop into one of the most prosperous sections of the state. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Eden church, of which she was a member.

— A number of relatives from Newton and vicinity attended the funeral of the 92 year old Grandmother Anna Goering at the Eden church northwest of Moundridge on Tuesday afternoon. Having come to Kansas during the time of the Russian Mennonite immigration in 1874, she experienced all the hardships of establishing a pioneer home on the open prairies. One of her children died while the immigrants were yet on the way and is buried at Peabody. The services on Tuesday were in charge of Rev. P. P. Wedel of the First Mennonite church of Christian in Moundridge and Rev. Walter Gering, pastor at Eden, who returned last March after a year spent in relief work in Denmark.
