Father and Daughter Die in Christmas Day Crash in So. Dakota
Freeman, S. D. — Double funeral services were conducted in Pioneer Hall at Freeman Junior College on Dec. 29 for Joseph D. Glanzer, 60, and his daughter Sandra, 18, who died in a head-on collision near Sioux Falls, S. D. on Christmas day.
Also killed in the crash was Donald Nelson of Sioux Falls, while Mrs. Glanzer was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with critical injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. Glanzer and daughter, residing in the Bridgewater community, had gone to Fairmont, Minn. to spend Christmas with a daughter and family from Wheaton, Ill. who came to Fairmont to meet them. The tragic accident took place as they were returning home.
Mr. Glanzer was a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Glazer and a brother of Rebecca Glanzer, missionary nurse who died in India in May 1963. Mrs. Glazer is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Schrag of Freeman.

JOSEPH D. GLANZER
Joseph D. Glazer, son of Rev. Joseph D. [sic Joseph J.] and Anna Decker Glazer, was born on a farm near Bridgewater, S. D. on Dec. 15, 1904.
He received his elementary education in a rural school near the parental home. He acquired his high school and college education at Freeman Junior College. Upon completion of college he taught elementary school for five years.
He became a member of the Salem M. B. Church at the age of 15 and retained his membership with that church until his passing. The family for years has been active at the Trinity Presbyterian Church at Bridgewater, where Joe had been a Sunday school teacher for years and a the time of death was assistant Sunday school superintendent.
On Sept. 1, 1929 Joseph was united in marriage to Edna Schrag of Marion, S. D. To this union were born two daughters: Orinne, Mrs. Del Stoner, of Wheaton, Ill., and Sandra.
Christmas Day 1964 was spent at Fairmont, Minn. with the daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren at the Stoner family, parents of Del Stoner. Upon returning home that evening they met with great tragedy five miles west of Sioux Falls, ending the life of Joe and daughter Sandra and leaving Edna in critical condition at the Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls.
He attained the age of 60 years and 10 days.
Mr. Glazer was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara, Mrs. Paul D. Hofer, and Rebecca of Poona, India.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing his wife Edna and daughter Orinne, Mrs. Del Stoner, two grand-children, and one son-in-law; two brothers, John and Elmer of Bridgewater; four sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Peter J. Hofer of Bridgewater, Susie, Mrs. David G. Wollman of Menno, S. D., Marie, also of Bridgewater, and Lucy, Mrs. Jake Wall of Reedley, Calif.: and a host of relatives and friends.
