Four Young People Die In Canadian Accidents

FATAL CROSSING CRASH AT ROSTHERN, SASK., SEPARATE MISHAPS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

Rosthern, Sask. — A truck was crushed by a Canadian National Railways passenger-freight train at a level crossing near here Sunday night, June 14, taking the lives of 19-year-old Lawrence Giesbrecht of Homewood, Man. and his companion, Elsie Dyck, 14, of North Battleford, Sask.

The young man died in the wreckage, and Miss Dyck passed away while being flown to a Saskatoon hospital by government air ambulance. The truck in which they were riding was reduced to a mangled ball of metal.

The Giesbrecht youth, who attended Rosthern Junior College, was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Peter U. Giesbrecht of Homewood. The body was returned to Manitoba, and funeral services were scheduled for June 27 at the Winkler Bergthaler Church.

Mission City, B. C. — Two young men, both former residents of Saskatchewan, were fatally injured in separate mishaps occurring here within a few days of each other.

Henry Rempel, son of G. G. Rempel of Waldheim, Sask., was killed in an automobile accident June 6 while being taken to the hospital. Funeral Services were held at the Mission Funeral Home.

On June 10, while on his job at a logging camp, Don Peters was struck in the head by a large log and killed instantly. He was the son of Jake Peters of Mission City and formerly of Langham, Sask. The funeral services were held also at the Mission Funeral Home and the body laid to rest beside that of the Rempel youth.
