ACCIDENTS CLAIM LIVES OF THREE IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO VICINITY

St. Jacobs, Ontario. — The coming of the New Year has brought scenes of tragedy in this community, accidents claiming the lives of three persons and seriously injuring a fourth.

On Jan. 1 funeral services were held at the Upper Woolwich Mennonite church for the 14-year-old son of Ishmael Bowman, one of two lads who drowned when they broke through thin ice on the stream which enters the Floradale dam.

Thursday, Jan. 22, Frank Gies, a stock trucker, together with Amos Martin, both of Route 1, St. Clements, were on their way to the weekly stock sale at Kitchener and as they crossed the tracks which pass the stockyard entrance, they were hit by a train. Mr. Gies was instantly killed and Bro. Martin is in a critical condition, though given a chance to recover.
