Pennsylvania Youth Killed, Two Injured In One-Car Accident

Smoketown, Pa. — A one-car crash on May 14 claimed the life of D. Marlin Gerlach, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Gerlach of rural Lancaster, critically injured the driver of the car, Everett Hershey, and left in serious condition Dennis Kilheffer. The three other occupants of the car were treated for minor injuries.

As the six teenage boys were on their way home from Young People's Meeting at the Stumpton Mennonite Church on Sunday evening the car failed to make a curve, climbed an embankment, hit a utility pole, and landed on its top back on the highway. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. near Cochranville.

The Gerlach boy was a member of the Senior High School graduating class of Penn Manor.
