CHRISTIAN C.GERIG
Christian Conrad Gerig, son of the late Bishop Christian R. and Mary (Conrad) Gerig, was born June 14, 1895 near Wayland, Iowa. In 1904 he with his parents and family moved to Linn County, Oregon, where he had since made his home.
After a long illness he aswered the call of the Lord August 28, 1959, aged 64 years, two months, 14 days.
As a young man he accepted the Lord and made his membership with the Fairview Mennonite church, of which he was a faithful member.
On Oct. 10, 1919, he was united in marriage with Ida Boshart who survives him. Also surviving are four sons, Irvin and Clarence of Albany, Oregon, Norman and Dean of Lebanon, Oregon; three daughters, Hazel Eby of Lebanon, Ruth (Mrs. Dale Birky) of Scio, Oregon and Laura of Portland; 13 grandchildren; his stepmother, Anna K. Gerig of Albany; four brothers, Martin and Henry of Lebanon, Amos of Albany and Ben of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two sisters, Fannie Roth of Wayland, Iowa and Lizzie (Mrs. D. A. Roth) of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn, in 1928 at the age of six years; one infant granddaughter in 1949; a son-in-law, Harvey Eby in 1951; a brother Simon and a sister, Barbara.
Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite church on Route 1, Albany, Oregon August 31, 1959, with N. M. Birky in charge. Internment [sic] was made in the church cemetery.
