Anna Pauline Braun Gerig ward am 13. Febr. 1885 in Manitoba geboren und starb in Los Angeles, Calif. am 23. Dez. 1944. Schon jung bekehrt, reiste sie als sie 21 Jahre alt war als Missionarin unter unserer Konferenz nach Indien und hat dort 9 Jahre treu gedient. Sie wollte auch wieder zurück, aber ihre Gesundheit erlaubte das nicht. Später heiratate sie Pred. Daniel Gerig und sie widmeten sich dem Berg Volk in Pennsylvania. Hier wurde ihr Sohn geboren. Da ihre Gesundheit noch Jahren wieder versagte, mußte diese Arbeit eingestellt werden. Doch, wo sie auch war, widmete sie ihre ganzen Kräfte dem Dienst des Herrn bis Er sie zu sich rief. Es trauern um sie ihr Gatte, ein sohn Paul Daniel, Ocean Side; 5 Schwestern: Frau Earl W. Smith, Dallas, Oregon; Frau P. A. Kliewer, Albany, Oregon; Helena, Elisabeth und Margaret, Los Angeles; 2 Brüder: Pred. Gerhard H. Braun, Tracy, Calif.; und Pred. David A. Braun, Placentia, Calif. In Indien war sie die Nachfolgerin von Anna Funk, die ihr Leben beim Titanic Schiffbruch ließ.

Anna Pauline Braun as Missionary

Anna Pauline Braun Gerig, was born February 13, 1885, in Manitoba, Canada, and died December 23, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. At the early age of eight she dedicated her life to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. In answer to the Saviour’s call she sailed for India at the age of twenty-one. After nine years of faithful and strenuous service, she returned home to her parents in Oregon, broken in health. Soon after she began to long to return to India, but her health not permitting, she united in marriage with Rev. Daniel Gerig who was then proclaiming good tidings of peace among the white mountain people of Pennsylvania. Here she again entered whole-heartedly into service, and here it was that their only child, Paul Daniel, was born. After some years her health required a milder climate, and they came to California. Still always tenderly concerned about the poor and needy, the sick and aged, she gave and gave of her self and of her substance, until there was nothing left of her but a shadow. Then the Lord took her to himself. Loved ones who remain are: Her husband, Rev. Daniel Gerig of Los Angeles; her son, Paul Daniel of Ocean Side; five sisters, Mrs. Earl W. Smith, Dallas, Oregon; Mrs. P. A, Kliewer, Albany, Oregon; Helena, Elizabeth, and Margaret of Los Angeles; and two brothers, Rev. Gerhard H. Braun, Tracy, California, and Rev. David A. Braun, Placentia, California. Anna Braun was a co-worker of Anna Funk. She became the successor of Anna Funk, when Miss Funk lost her life in the Titanic disaster. She (Anna Funk) gave up her seat to a mother who was left standing on the sinking ship while her children were already safe in a life boat with Miss Funk. On her trip to India, Anna Braun was accompanied by Rev. and Mrs. P. W. Penner. She also had the privilege of working together with Rev. P. A. Penner, the founder of the mission work.
