DEATH COMES TO PIONEER IMMIGRANT FROM RUSSIA AT AGE NINETY-SEVEN

Drake, Sask.—Funeral services were held here Sept 29 for Mrs. Helena Gerbrandt, who passed away at the Rosthern Invalid’s Home at the age of 97. Burial was made in the cemetery of the North Star Mennonite church, of which she became a charter member Feb. 6, 1906.

Born at Michalin, Russia, on Feb. 8, 1857, she came to America in 1874 and was married to John Gerbrandt at Hillsboro, Kans. in 1880. They lived at Hillsboro until moving to Saskatchewan in 1905.

Survivors include two sons, Rev. J. G. Gerbrandt and John of Saskatoon; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Funk; two aged sisters; 42 grandchildren and 89 great-grandchildren.
