Father of Missing Pax Worker Killed in Tractor accident

Dalton, Ohio. — Nathan Gerber, farmer of this community, was killed in a tractor accident last Friday. Gerber was the father of Daniel Gerber, Pax worker in Vietnam who was captured by the Viet Cong on May 30, 1962,and of Aldis Gerber, freshman at Hesston College, Hesston, Kan.

Services Held for Father of Paxman Missing in Vietnam

Kidron, Ohio. — Funeral services for Nathan Gerber, 65, who died May 3 when pinned under his overturned tractor, were held May 6 at the Kidron Mennonite Church. Bill Detweiler, Reuben Hofstetter and Isaac Zuercher officiated.

Mr. Gerber was the father of Daniel Gerber, missing in Vietnam since 1962 when he was captured by Viet Cong guerillas [sic] while in Pax service. Daniel's fiancee, Ruth Wilting, was one of six Christian and Missionary Alliance workers slain early this year in a raid on the leprosy hospital at Banmethuot.

Mr. Gerber was plowing at his farm and was making a turn on a rise at the end of the field when the tractor overturned, pinning him underneath.

Surviving in addition to the widow and the missing son are five other children. David E. of Wooster, James L. of Mancelona, Mich. Barbara Ann, in mission work in Chillicothe, O., Norman S. in peace service in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Aldis, a student at Hesston College.
