MRS. ELIAS P. GERBER

Fannie, wife of Elias P. Gerber, was born July 13, 1882 on a farm west of Kidron, Ohio. She was the daughter of Isaac K. and Katherine (Neukomm) Lehman. She was a lifetime resident of this community, except for brief visits to the Gerber winter home in Sarasota, Florida, where they spent several consecutive winters.

Although she was in ill health for more than a year, her passing was unexpected. Five days prior to her death, she was a patient in the Wooster Convalescent and Rest Home where she passed away on May 5, 1953, at the age of 70 years, nine months and 22 days.

As a young girl she received Christ as her Savior and was a faithful member of the Kidron Mennonite church. For more than sixteen years she taught a Sunday school class, and enjoyed being used in her Lord's service in this manner.

She was married to Elias P. Gerber on October 3, 1915, and faithfully carried on her responsibilities as step-mother to five children. To this union four children were born, two of whom survive her. They are Melva, (Mrs. Dwight Gerber), and Glenford Gerber, both of Kidron. Two sons, Clayton and Wayne, four sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

She is survived also by her loving companion, Elias P. Gerber, two sisters, Mrs. Elias Falb of Dalton, R. D. and Mrs. John Boegli of Orrville.

She also leaves five step children: Dora, Mrs. Albert Amstutz; Lila, Mrs. Otto Gerber; Oren Gerber; Annie, Mrs. Marvin Miller, all of Kidron; and Edwin Gerber of Upland, California; as well as three grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home and the Kidron Mennonite church on May 8. The officiating ministers were: Rev. Allen Bixler, Rev. Isaac Zuercher and Rev. Reuben Hofstetter. Her body was laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church.
