DANIEL P. GERBER

Daniel P. Gerber, son of Peter M. and Elizabeth Moser Gerber (deceased), was born at Sonnenberg, Wayne county, Ohio in 1862, and passed away at his home on Oct 12, 1949, aged 87 years, eight months and 28 days. He had lived at the same house ever since he was married.

He was a diligent and honest laborer and built a new house, barn, and other buildings, and thus had a beautiful home.

He was married to Anna Bixler, on Sept. 19, 1889, sharing joys and also sorrows for many years. In Sept 1939 they celebrated their golden wedding.

Five sons and three daughters were born to this union; Aldus of Dalton, Earl at home, Grover and Oscar of near Kidron, Daniel of Canton, Clara (Mrs. Will Geiser) and Tamar (Mrs. Adam Geiger) also of near Kidron, and Ada (Mrs. Elmer Nussbaum) of Applecreek.

Surviving besides his sons and daughters are also 37 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Peter of Dalton, Elias of Kidron, and Noah of Pandora. Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. His wife died March 23, 1947.

Funeral services were held Oct 14, in charge of Reuben Hofstetter, Allen Bixler, and Isaac Zuercher at the home and Kidron church, where he was a faithful member, always attending services as long as health permitted

He had several strokes and since February was incapacitated but bore his afflictions with Christian fortitude and was a loving and kind father and grandfather. He also loved music and often played his harmonica.

Six of his grandsons were pallbearers, with burial at the Kidron cemetery.
