JOHN EDWARD GEER

John Edward Geer was born May 25, 1899, at Potwin, Kansas. He was the son of John S. and Javina (Morrow) Geer. He received his education in the public schools at Potwin and Whitewater, Kansas.

As a young man he joined the Baptist Church and later transferred his membership to the Christian church at Potwin, where he retained his membership until his death.

He was married to Wilma Epp on August 11, 1946, in the Alexanderwohl Church at Goessel, Kansas, by Rev. P. A. Wedel. They were married 11 years and 28 days, enjoying a most happy married life with many blessings.

Ed, as he was commonly known, lost his mother when he was just a young man and his father and brother in 1953. He was a veteran of the 2nd World War.

In the later years of his life he was a restaurant proprietor. He and his beloved companion labored faithfully to serve the public efficiently.

In the last seven years he began to fail in health and frequently grieved over his condition. While suffering he turned to the heavenly Father, who was so gracious to him. The departed loved flowers and even at the time of his death most beautiful flowers were blooming athis home manifesting to the one who loved them beauty, fragrance and loveliness.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, 1957, he became seriously ill and passed away suddenly at his home from a heart attack. He reached the age of 58 years, three months and 14 days.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife Wilma of the home; one brother George; one uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Geer; six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Moody Funeral home under the direction of Rev. P. A. Wedel of the Alexanderwohl Church, Goessel, Kan. and Rev. Ted. Roth of Whitewater, Kansas, on Sept. 11, 1957. Interment was made in the Whitewater Cemetery.
