Two Killed When Cars Collide At Crossroad
BLUFFTON, O. BUSINESS MAN ONE OF VICTIMS IN OHIO ACCIDENT
Pandora, Ohio. — The collision of two automobiles at a county road intersection near here at 12:15 Monday afternoon, Sept. 13, resulted in the deaths of two Bluffton men. Both passed away about one hour later at the Bluffton community hospital.
Albert Garmatter, 61, well known Bluffton lumber company owner, was thrown from his car by the impact and suffered multiple fractures. He died at 1:20 p.m.
The car driven by Donald D. Jones of Route 1, Bluffton, after striking the Garmatter auto, crashed into a utility pole and burned. A farmer living nearby put out the flames and passersby helped remove Mr. Jones from the car. He died at 1:10 p.m.
Funeral services for Mr. Garmatter were held Sept. 15 at the Ebenezer Mennonite church, of which he was a member. Rev. Howard Landes officiated. Mr. Jones was a member of the Riley Creek Baptist church.
Mr. Garmatter is survived by his wife, the former Sylvia Basinger, three daughters and one son, six grandchildren and a number of brothers and sisters.
